Ethan is now 20 weeks out from competition, and things are starting to take shape. Ethan has been training extremely hard over the course of his prep so far, but the next 20 weeks are going to be the real challenge.
During the final months of a bodybuilding prep such as this, diet is absolutely paramount. Ethan has developed a new diet, which you can see here. This new diet features a carbohydrate rotation approach. Ethan consumes more carbohydrates in his daily eating on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday contain significantly less carbs than the other days.
Typically, this is done to reduce body fat by only having more carbohydrates on days that you are more physically active. For example, a training day versus a rest day or a leg day versus an arm day. The more taxing days will typically be accompanied by days of higher carb intake. Cycling the carbohydrates allows Ethan to give his body just enough fuel on days of tough workouts while still keeping him in fat burning mode.
Of his recent adjustment, Ethan says:
Hey guys,
Moving along and making expected progress. I'm going to start the long, tough road of hard dieting for 20 weeks. The final two weeks I want to be prepared and waiting for the show to come.
As you can see from the above picture at 24 weeks out, Ethan is continuously improving, and has said the sports supplements in the House Of Muscle sports nutrition line have been very helpful. Like House Of Muscle employee Nick, Ethan loves the combination of our Vanilla 100% Whey Protein and Recovery Orange. Mixed together, Ethan calls it a “dreamsicle” and has been having that shake on a daily basis.
For those of you out there “In The House,” this detailed diet of a high level competitive bodybuilder is a good place to look for reference if your goal is to trim some fat for the summer. We appreciate your following along with Ethan’s journey.
Ethan is still preparing to earn a top five finish at the National Physique Committee (NPC) Jay Cutler Classic Bodybuilding Competition (National Qualifier) in Baltimore, MD, USA on 11/02/14.
20 weeks of hard training and dieting to go until Ethan hits the stage!
